History

King's Command Foods, Inc. was founded by Harvey Baer and originally operated under the name Home Frozen Foods. The company began selling home freezers along with food plans to households in the state of Washington in the 1950's and later expanded into Oregon and Alaska. At a time when retail stores did not offer frozen meat products, Home Frozen Foods provided customers with a selection of "Food Fit For a King" to fill the household freezers it sold.

In the 1960's, Baer realized that a market for frozen, portion controlled meat products was emerging. He began selling to restaurants and other institutions through distributors under the company's new name, King's Command Meats. As this market continued to grow, King's Command Meats added various other fully cooked items to the menu, including charbroiled burgers and a line of fully cooked breaded products.

Baer continued to work and grow King's Command Meats foodservice business in its original location in Seattle, WA until his death in 1989 when his son, Ron Baer, became president. In 1990, King's Command Meats moved to its new headquarters, a state-of-the-art, 80,000 square foot facility in Kent, WA and became King's Command Foods, Inc. in 1995.

King's Command Foods, Inc. is one of the largest meat processors on the West coast, specializing in portion controlled, pre-cooked and ready-to-cook beef, veal, pork and chicken. The addition of an Ohio plant in 2006 allowed the company to expand the foodservice and retail markets through the Midwest and Eastern regions. Products are distributed throughout the United States and Canada in the healthcare, school, foodservice, C-store, retail and industrial arenas.
